In the wake of my controversial posting about Bergman’s death and the end of the auteur, today I happened to stumble across a fascinating list, “a necessarily selective survey of over 250 directors from around the world, all of whom are 60 or older, who have had lasting impact or a moment that matters in one way or another.” Again at the top of the list we find Manoel de Oliveira (BELLE TOUJOURS).
My apologies to the living… I stand corrected.
