Great reviews coming in for Ramin Bahrani’s CHOP SHOP, which opens Friday.
From Seattle-based Film Threat reviewer KJ Doughton calls it “resonant and unforgettable” and gives the film four stars [link to full review].
Also today in the Seattle Weekly (via the Village Voice) Nathan Lee says the child actors are “wonderfully authentic and nicely harmonized, but the most engrossing character here is Willets Point, an industrial stretch of unpaved urban flotsam—and “another euphemism for urban blight” per Mayor Bloomberg, gentrification glinting in his eye.” [Read the review on the SW website]
