Northwest Film Forum will be hosting an endorphin-rich night of music, film and refreshments, “You’re Looking at Country” at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, featuring rarely seen footage of country music stars (think Johnny, Faron, Buck, Loretta and Patsy) culled from 1950s and 60s films, TV shows, and other sources. The program will be hosted by Texas troubadour Dallas Wayne, who will add his own whiskey-soaked baritone and guitar wizardry to the mix, performing a short set of music inspired and informed by the golden greats of traditional country.
Plus, there’s art! For the first time in a long long while (maybe even since the grand opening of the space, if my memory serves), Northwest Film Forum is taking down a few poster cases to make room for visual art. Pictured here are Zoe Muth‘s tributes to the celestial gangster threads worn by such luminaries as Porter Wagoner, Little Jimmie Dickens, and Hank Snow. Yes, we’re talking plywood Nudie suits, and we’re betting you’re going to want to take one home.
