Lynn Shelton… Someone To Watch… Well no Duh!

We’ve known for years but the world is starting to realize, in today’s Seattle Times:

Seattle filmmaker Lynn Shelton has been nominated for a 2009 Spirit Award by Film Independent. The Los Angeles-based organization is a nonprofit created to support independent film and film artists. Shelton and her 2008 film “My Effortless Brilliance,” which premiered at this year’s South by Southwest Film Festival (and screened at the Seattle International Film Festival), are nominated for the Acura Someone to Watch Award.

The top nominees for this year’s Spirit Awards are “Rachel Getting Married,” “Frozen River” and “Ballast,” all of which received six nominations. Other multiple nominees include “Milk,” “The Wrestler,” “The Visitor” and “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.” The awards will be presented Feb. 21, 2009, in Los Angeles, the night before the Academy Awards ceremony.
