The Cream of Celtic Cinema returns to Seattle!

2010 Irish Reels Film Festival, March 12-14 – Presented by Irish Reels

Now in our twelfth year we are delighted to bring to Seattle a wonderful collection of refreshing and exciting new works in Irish cinema. Screenings will take place at the Henry Art Gallery, Seattle Art Museum and FREE screenings at the Seattle Center.

Our guest of honor will be the Right Honorable Desmond Guinness  (yes, relative to Arthur Guinness, inventor of the ‘black stuff’!). Desmond, in his own right, is famous for saving the castles and stately homes of Ireland. You can read more about him here: http://www.irishclub.org/2010-GrandMarshals.htm

The festival will kick-off with a lecture and film screening with Mr. Guinness, sharing his great preservation efforts with the Irish Georgian Society, at the Henry Art Gallery on Friday, March 12th at 7pm. Other notable mentions are the highly-acclaimed new feature film by Conor McPherson, ‘The Eclipse’, the Oscar(r) nominated short animated film, ‘Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty’ and the IFTA-nominated documentary ‘The Yellow Bittern’ profiling the Clancy Brother’s musical journey.
