Producer’s Happy Hour Masterclass with Jennifer Roth

Wednesday, February 16, 5-7pm

Instructor: Jennifer Roth
Admission: $6/WigglyWorld members, $9/general

Sometimes the best filmmaking decisions are made because of limited financial and logistical resources. Particularly in the micro-budget film world, in which most of Seattle is making films these days, getting the best bang for the buck is key to making a successful film. Jennifer Roth, executive/line producer of the award winning Black Swan, will lead a two-hour master class on film production that delves deeply into the importance of preserving a director’s vision as a producer. She will discuss the positive side of having limited resources and how to tell the best possible story when making budgetary choices. Ms. Roth will also take you through the budgeting and scheduling process, discuss hiring crew, the finer points of scouting locations, and lay out why movies now have so many producers and what they all do.

Jennifer Roth is a 20 year veteran of the film industry. She was recently the executive producer of Darren Aronofsky’s film Black Swan which stars Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel and Mila Kunis. In 2008 she was the executive/line producer on the Darren Aronofsky film The Wrestler starring Mickey Rourke which won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. Her other producer credits include  World’s Greatest Dad, Smart People and The Squid and the Whale. Her early production credits include Bad Lieutenant, Smoke, The Crow and Deadman. Ms. Roth is also the current board president of the Northwest Film Forum.
